Fun Airport! Easy to land at, helpful ATC, fun little airport hidden here in the SGV. Seems to always be busy but, only adds to the fun!
Everyone ĥung·ÖüT n traded stories @ (then named) Flo's Café!
First of Thank you for allowing me to fly my drone by Santa Fe Dam. It was my first time calling them to notify them. They're very nice people. You just have to understand that they're doing their job and keeping everyone safe. It's common sense rule. Just follow it and you'll be fine. Don't be reckless.
We'd fly out on wknds thru Azusa Canyon, over the San Gabriel Mountains and land@the 'Crystal·Aire' Airport on the high desert where we learned together to fly Sail·Planes!(gliders).... What an awesome Rush!, BE·ing towed off the dirt·strip to the altitude we paid for behind the tow·plane then releasing the cable and ReaLLLy feeling FREE, like a bird, w other than a bit of whistling air, nØ sounds or vibrations of an engine! Öhhh whÄt a f€€ling!
This airport has been in operation for years and a well known spot for locals through the Emerald Neckles and Anna's Kitchen. This port also hosts some of the larger events in El Monte throughout the year so keep a look out.
Great place to learn to fly. They have a good restaurant as well (only open till 3pm). Tower is friendly and helpful.
Many Grand memories!
I basically gr€w·uP as ´Öne·of·the·Airport·Bums´ and flew oUt of there as a 60's kid, often in the captain's seat w dad in co-pilot's seat of our Piper Comanche, or Piper Apache (twin eng)!
